Shropshire schoolgirls score big with crossbar foundation football sessions
Lilleshall National Sports Centre hosted the Crossbar Foundation “Let Girls Play” competition, offering 60 Shropshire schoolgirls the chance to enjoy coached football sessions delivered by Crossbar Education in Sport coaches and students from The Crossbar College of Sport.
The Let Girls Play initiative is a nationwide celebration of girls’ football, aiming to promote inclusivity in sport. The event allowed the girls to experience the fantastic facilities at Lilleshall and represent their schools in a fun, competitive way—building confidence and making lasting memories.
Luke Hughes, Operations Manager for the Crossbar Group, shared his excitement about the event’s success:
“We’d like to thank Lilleshall National Sports Centre, Sport England, and our school partners for enabling us to provide this amazing opportunity. This event has been a huge success, positively impacting girls' football and inclusive sports. We look forward to continuing our work with Lilleshall and engaging even more children through sport.”
Jennifer Sibbald-Wall, Contract Manager at Lilleshall, also expressed pride in the event:
“It’s clear from the feedback and videos we’ve seen that the Crossbar College of Sport students did a fantastic job creating fun and engaging activities for all participants. We’re always proud to support our partners and the incredible work they do.”
